MIAMI – US President Donald Trump has claimed that Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, may be dead following American military strikes.

Speaking at a summit in Miami, Trump asserted that the "Supreme Leader is no longer supreme" and suggested that Mojtaba is either dead or severely incapacitated. These remarks come a month after the assassination of the previous leader, Ali Khamenei, on February 28.

Although Tehran named Mojtaba as the successor, he has not been seen in public since, fueling reports that he was wounded in the initial bombardment. Trump stated that the US has dismantled Iran's command structure and that the country is now "begging to make a deal."
