Chief Minister of Delhi Rekha Gupta Unveils ₹9,000 Crore Water and Yamuna Cleanup Plan

NEW DELHI — Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has launched a ₹9,000 crore plan to modernize Delhi’s water and sewage systems. The project aims to stop untreated waste from entering the Yamuna River by increasing treatment capacity to 1,500 MGD.

  • Expansion: Construction of a 50 MGD plant in Dwarka and four new reservoirs.
  • Efficiency: Cutting water loss from 45% to 15% for universal tap access.
  • Funding: Supported by the Asian Development Bank to upgrade aging infrastructure.

The initiative ensures all wastewater is treated, directly reducing pollution in the capital's primary river.
