Director (Offshore) Pankaj Kumar Distributes Bicycles to 350 Girls via ONGC Mumbai

MUMBAI — Director (Offshore) Pankaj Kumar led a major ONGC Mumbai initiative to empower 350 girl students on the occasion of Gudi Padwa. Partnering with the Centre for Transforming India, the corporation distributed bicycles and academic kits to students across Zilla Parishad schools in Kherane, Bhatan, and Chindhran.
Bridging the Distance
The initiative addresses a critical barrier to education in rural Maharashtra:
- Mobility Solution: Bicycles were provided to girls who previously faced a daily 3-kilometre walk to school, reducing fatigue and improving safety.
- Academic Support: Each student received a complete kit containing essential learning resources to support their studies under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 vision.
- Impact Goals: The program aims to boost school attendance rates and foster independence among young female learners.
Commitment to CSR
This outreach reflects ONGC’s broader Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy, focusing on inclusive learning and community dignity. By removing logistical hurdles, the project seeks to improve educational outcomes and build long-term confidence within these local communities.
