BPCL Partners with SDI Kochi to Empower Tribal Youth Through Skill Development

KOCHI – Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) to support specialized training programs at the Skill Development Institute (SDI) Kochi, focusing on enhancing employability for tribal youth.

The agreement was signed in the presence of Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Jual Oram, marking a strategic step toward fostering self-reliance and sustainable livelihoods within underserved communities.

Key Highlights of the Partnership:

  • Targeted Training: SDI Kochi will deliver industry-aligned programs designed to improve job readiness and encourage entrepreneurship among tribal youth.
  • High-Level Collaboration: The LoI was formally exchanged between Anand Prakash Pandey (Joint Secretary, Ministry of Tribal Affairs) and Sivakumar G.S. (CEO, SDI Kochi).
  • CSR Commitment: The initiative is part of BPCL’s broader Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) mandate, focusing on inclusive growth and nation-building.
  • National Alignment: The project aligns with federal priorities to bridge the skill gap and generate employment for India’s tribal population.

Dignitaries in Attendance:

The ceremony saw participation from senior officials, including Bina Mansukh (GM, BPCL) and representatives from the BPCL SC/ST Association, underscoring the organizational support for the initiative.

By strengthening the skill development infrastructure at SDI Kochi, BPCL aims to create long-term economic opportunities that will benefit tribal communities across the country for the 2026-27 period.
