IRS Officer M. Anitha Appointed Director in Department of Defence

NEW DELHI – In a significant administrative reshuffle, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has formally approved the appointment of M. Anitha as Director in the Department of Defence.

Anitha, a 2007-batch officer of the Indian Revenue Service (IRS), will transition to the Ministry of Defence under the Central Staffing Scheme. The decision marks a key lateral shift of high-level personnel within the central government’s administrative framework.

Lateral Move from DIPAM

The appointment follows a recommendation by the Civil Services Board (CSB) to relocate Anitha from her current posting in the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM).

Experts view this lateral shift as a move to bring diverse financial and administrative expertise into the Department of Defence, particularly as the ministry continues to modernize its procurement and management systems.

Tenure and Deployment Details

  • Effective Date: The appointment commences the moment she officially assumes charge of the post.
  • Fixed Term: Her tenure is set to run until September 26, 2026.
  • Duration Logic: This period covers the remaining balance of her standard five-year deputation at the Director level under central staffing protocols.
